Imperial Tobacco says that it recently attended an international anti-counterfeiting forum that was the first showcase of Codentify technology.

The aim of the event, which was held inMoscow, was to share ideas between governments and representatives from consumer goods industries, including tobacco, with a particular focus onRussia.

The two-day forum was opened by the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, and attended by 4,000 delegates.

The Digital Coding & Tracking Association (DCTA), which represents the four main tobacco manufacturers, including Imperial, was said to have taken the opportunity to highlight the Codentify technology.

Codentify enables tracking and tracing, product authentication and digital tax verification.

“This was the first showcase of Codentify and our corporate affairs team in Russia were on hand to help answer people’s questions, said Mark Hill, Senior AIT engagement manager and DCTA member.

“It was great timing as we are currently running pilot projects in Italy and Slovakia to demonstrate the effectiveness of this technology to governments in the EU and beyond.”
