Punjab clamps down on e-cigarette e-commerce

A number of electronic cigarette sites that have been breaking the law by selling electronic cigarettes into the Punjab, India, have been told to quit their activities, according to a story on Punjabnewsexpress.com.

On the directions of Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jiyani, the State Tobacco Control Cell has issued notices to various e-commerce sites that were said to be violating the Drugs and Cosmetics Act ‘with impunity’.

The story said that the Punjab, in 2013, became the first state in India to declare the electronic cigarette an “unapproved drug”.
