 Graphic warnings now mandatory

Companies manufacturing cigarettes for sale in the Philippines are being urged to comply with a new graphic health warning law, according to an ABS-CBN News story.

From yesterday, cigarette manufacturers have not been allowed to release to the country’s trade products that don’t bear the new warnings.

And by November 4, cigarette retailers must carry only cigarettes bearing the new warnings.

There was no suggestion in the story that manufacturers had any intention of doing anything but comply with the new requirements.

The Graphic Health Warnings Law or Republic Act 10643 was signed by President Benigno Aquino III in July 2014.
