Sri Lanka to go tobacco-free

The Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the Health Ministry to take measures to make the country free of tobacco by 2020, according to a story in the Daily Mirror, citing the Health Services director general Dr. Palitha Mahipala.

Addressing a news conference at the Health Education Bureau on Tuesday, Mahipala said that Cabinet approval had been granted in this regard.

He gave no details about how such a measure might be achieved.
