Davidoff makes German appointment

The Switzerland-based cigar maker Oettinger Davidoff has appointed Olaf Ruf as general manager and vice president of its German subsidiary, which is expected to become operational by January 1, 2017, according to a Cigar Authority story relayed by the TMA.

In announcing the appointment, Davidoff said Ruf had a strong sales and marketing background and many years of experience in the German market.

He is due to act as an external consultant this year while planning to take over the operations by the end of the year.

Davidoff terminated its existing agreement with its German sales partner, in line with its plans to set up its own unit in Hamburg.
