 JT’s market share up sharply

Japan Tobacco Inc.’s domestic cigarette sales volume during March, at 10.6 billion, was increased by 18.9 percent on that of March 2015, 8.9 billion, according to preliminary figures issued by the company today. The March 2015 figure was down by 29.3 percent on that of March 2014.

Volume during January-March, at 27.2 billion, was increased by 6.7 percent on that of January-March 2015, 25.5 billion. The January-March 2015 volume was down by 16.2 percent on that of January-March 2014.

JT’s market share stood at 64.5 percent during March, at 62.4 percent during January-March, and at 59.9 percent during January-December 2015.

JT’s domestic cigarette revenue during March, at ¥60.2 billion, was increased by 18.2 percent on its Mach 2015 level, ¥50.9 billion, which was down by 26.5 percent on its revenue of March 2014.

Revenue during January-March, at ¥154.2 billion, was increased by 6.8 percent on that of January-March 2015, ¥144.4 billion, which was down by 13.3 percent on its revenue of January-March 2014.
