Dhaka University has banned tobacco smoking inside all its campus buildings, according to a story in The Financial Express citing a bdnews24.com report.

Bangladesh’s Tobacco Control Act 2005 prohibits smoking in public places but the university’s acting Proctor Professor Amzad Ali said that the task of enforcing the act on the campus had proved to be a “little difficult”.

But the university was trying its best. “Smoking has been long banned in the administrative buildings of the university,” he said.

“Now we will make the decision effective in the rest of the buildings.”
