AOI board member to retire

Alliance One International said on Tuesday that Norman A. Scher would retire from its board of directors as of the 2016 annual shareholders meeting.

“On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to offer profound thanks to Norm for his outstanding service to the company and its shareholders,” said Mark Kehaya, chairman of the board. “Norm has consistently provided sound, thoughtful guidance during his tenure as a director of Alliance One and predecessor companies, which he has served for over 40 years.”

Meanwhile CEO and president, Pieter Sikkel, said that Scher’s experience and insight had been instrumental in helping guide the company through a time of significant change in the industry.

“Alliance One and its shareholders are fortunate to have had a leader of Norm’s caliber on the board, and we wish him the very best,” he said.
