EU’s flavors ban up for discussion

EU’s flavors ban up for discussion

The 2016 CORESTA Congress is scheduled to host, beyond its official program, a specific workshop on the characterising-flavors ban included in the EU’s revised Tobacco Products Directive (TPD).

The Congress, which is due to be held at the Hilton Berlin, Germany, on October 9-13, and which will mark the 60th anniversary of the association, will have as its theme, ‘Bridging the gaps’.

In a recent newsletter, CORESTA said European flavor companies would take the opportunity of the Congress to discuss the practical steps companies could take in relation to the flavors ban and whether this was an area in which CORESTA could have a supporting role, ‘potentially leading to a new work item proposal’.

The session will be introduced with a presentation on the EU’s TPD regulation and the current status on implementing acts.

The moderated discussion will consider a number of key questions focused on opportunities and the need for action.

The session, which is scheduled to start at 17:00 on October 7 at the Berlin Hilton Hotel, is open to all interested parties.

Details about the Congress program can be found in the newsletter at: https://www.coresta.org/sites/default/files/newsletter/Newsletter45-Aug2016.pdf.
