AOI appoints treasurer

Alliance One International has appointed Michael Shannon as vice president and treasurer effective November 1.

Prior to joining AOI, Shannon was at Deutsche Bank Securities in the Leveraged Finance Group, where he focused on both corporate and financial sponsor transactions in the leveraged loan and bond markets.

‘Mr. Shannon received a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Magna Cum Laude, graduated and qualified as Engineer from the Naval Nuclear Power Program and received an M.B.A. with honors from Columbia Business School (Donald B. Bibeault Scholar),’ according to a note posted on Alliance’s website. ‘He is a former Naval Submarine Officer having served aboard the USS Toledo (SSN 769) and worked as a Liaison Instructor at the Naval Submarine School.’

“Michael’s extensive leverage finance origination and execution experience provide an excellent background for the requirements at AOI,” said Joel Thomas, AOI’s executive vice president and CFO.  “His experience in structuring, pricing, underwriting and distributing credit products is a strong addition to our finance team and we are pleased he has decided to head our global treasury group.”

Meanwhile, Pieter Sikkel, AOI’s president and CEO, said Shannon had a proven record of financial innovation and delivery of results. “As vice president with Deutsche Bank, he worked extensively on a wide range of financing transactions,” he said. “We are pleased that Michael has joined our finance team.”
