 Cuba extends planting season

Cuba’s State-owned Tabacuba plans to extend the current leaf-planting campaign until July to offset losses caused by weather conditions, according to a Jamaica Observer story relayed by the TMA.

Tabacuba’s vice president, Miguel Vladimir Rodriquez Gonzales, said the goal was to plant enough to ensure restoration of the harvest.

Gonzales said that tobacco farmers had produced 24,000 tons of leaf during the 2015-2016 season.
